stop-loss.

despite my anger of ryan philippine (his betrayal of wife, reese witherspoon) i still decided to rent "stop-loss". the previews looked good..even though i am not an army wife or even someone who's really into the military. however, this movie has an effect on me. i knew war was awful.. and it showed as the war in iraq ruined the lives of these men in this movie. channing tatum.. heartthrob.. plays ryan's best friend in the movie and fellow solider. it was interesting to see how close these men become.. even to men they never knew before. they are fighting for freedom and each others lives. it's truly amazing to see this and even though it is just a movie, i imagine this is really what's its like out there. the men in this movie get sent home from iraq and others parished... a parade welcomes them as families come out to see if their loved one will return.. it was very sad. the whole jist of the movie though.. is that ryan and channing were supposed to be sent home.. channing was and ryan got "stop-lossed"-which means that they have to go back to iraq even though they were supposed to be released from the army. ryan refuses and goes AWOL.. which ends up taking him on a journey to the senator and with the option to either cross the border.. to canada or mexico and never return... never see his family or friends again.. start a new life.. be a new person. OR... go back to war. his choice makes this movie watchable and interesting. i'd recommend.. especially if you are into war or movies that make you think about the more important issues in life.

So I haven't seen this movie and I know it didn't do well in theaters but we all know everyone is on team Reese and not Ryan (thats what happens when u cheat. But anyways, the movie has a great story that not to many people know or understand. My friend Ed is in the National Guard and has been in it for 6 years. One month before completing his 6 years, he was given notice that he had to go to war in Afghanistan for a year. Come on, he had one month to go before he was done and they were telling him "srry, but u have papers to be sent out" So to say the least, he had to sign up for another 3 years with the National Guard because of this. What's worse, is when he comes back, he still might get sent back over.I'm all about American Pride and Supporting our soldiers, but he was just about to be finished and now he has his finance waiting for him to return. Anyone know if this has happened to anyone they know?
